Arusha National Park is nestled on the foothills of Mount Meru, a prominent volcano elevation of 4566m, in the Arusha region of North Eastern Tanzania. The park is comparatively small covering only 137km2 The Park is situated a short distance from Arusha itself thus making it easy to visit on a day or half day trip. Arusha National Park has a rich diversity of wildlife despite its small size, common animals include giraffe, cape buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, black and white colobus monkeys, elephants, bushbuck and many more. Leopards are present but rarely seen. Birdlife in the park is prolific; with many bird species more easily seen, here than elsewhere on tourist routes. Visitors in Arusha National Park will have opportunities to do game viewing, ride a horse, climb Mt Meru and organize safari walks. Arusha town is a safari center of Tanzania and most of the tourists will have it like a stopover for connections to other famous safari destinations to larger Tanzania.
