Serengeti National Park is a large national park in northern Tanzania that stretches over 15000 km2. It is the southern extension of Maasai Mara in Kenya. Serengeti is well known for the largest annual animal migration in the world. The park is also home to the largest lion population in Africa. Serengeti National park boasts an incredible diversity of wildlife making it a premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts and researchers alike. The park is home to the “Big Five” lion, leopard, African elephant, African buffalo and rhinoceros. Other animals include; cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, baboons, black faced vervet monkey, antelopes among others. The Serengeti’s rich avian population includes over 500 bird species, they are majestic African fish eagle, the vibrant lilac breasted roller, hornbills, guinea fowls, endangered Kori bustard among others. Visitors visiting Serengeti National Park must not expect to see every animal or bird on every visit. What you see on any given trip depends on the season, weather and the skill of your tour guide since the area is vast.
