Maasai Mara National Reserve is the World top Safari destination. Located in the Southwest region of Kenya bordering Tanzania Serengeti National park. Maasai Mara is popular for its alluring Savannah landscape and the World home to the World's largest concentration of Wildlife. The dramatic Wildebeest and Zebras migration is the most iconic escapades in Mara. Every year between Mid-June to October, millions of grazers dominated by mostly wildebeests cross the Mara River and Sand River from the adjacent Serengeti Park in Tanzania in search for lush greener pastures and water making it the most thrilling Sight traveler can experience. This great migration secured Maasai Mara as one of the seven wonders of Africa, and one of the ten wonders of the World. Maasai Mara national reserve hosts the big five; Lion, Leopards, African elephants, Rhinos and African buffaloes that are found all year round. Other wildlife found in the Maasai Mara includes; African wolves, African stripped weasels, servals, striped polecats, honey badgers, impalas, duikers, roan antelopes among others. Hippopotamuses and Nile crocodiles are found in plenty in Mara and Talek rivers. The Maasai Mara is the only protected area in Kenya with an indigenous black rhino unaffected by translocation. Bird Life International has named Maasai Mara national reserve an Important Bird Area. More than 500 bird species have been identified in the park, many of which are migrants. Maasai Mara is an important area for the threatened birds, which have found a safe haven; they include vultures, marabou storks, ostriches, crowned cranes, hornbills, secretary bird, long crested eagles, African pygmy falcons among others. The Plains between Mara River and the Esoit Siria Escarpment are probably the best area for game viewing in particular regarding lion and cheetah.
