About Us
Solio Game Reserve is privately owned wildlife conservancy located in Laikipia County. It is geared towards Rhino conservation. The 17500-acre reserve located 22 km north of Nyeri town plays a major part in the protection and breeding black rhinos in Kenya. Solio Game Reserve is the World’s first private Rhino sanctuary. Rhino is a member of the “Big Five” which are a key tourist attraction in Kenya. By the end of 2022, Kenya had 1890 rhinos (960 black, 922 white and 2 northern white rhinos). Kenya’s black rhino population ranks 3rd after South Africa and Namibia and Kenya hosts approximately 80% of the eastern subspecies of black rhino. Other wildlife found in Solio Game Reserve include; buffalos, zebras, giraffes and plain game includes waterbuck, Thompson’s gazelles, warthogs, impalas, Oryx and eland.
